Meet Our Staff
Scharla is the Community Outreach Manager at Cancer Navigators. Scharla will develop and maintain a relationship with community organizations and public agencies with a shared interest in the mission of Cancer Navigators, plan and oversee all fundraising events and activities, assist individuals and community organizations to develop and implement events and programs which will provide sources to Cancer navigators or its patients and publish regular communications to stakeholders and the public about its mission and activities. She will be out in the community fundraising/friend-raising, event planning, and public speaking. Scharla is a graduate of Pepperell High School, received her Practical Nursing degree in December 2014 from Georgia Northwestern Technical College and currently seeking her Bachelor’s degree at Jacksonville State University. She has successfully completed the Cancer Care Nurse Navigator training program, earning a certificate awarded by Northwest GA Regional Cancer Coalition, as well as, a certificate as a Lay Navigator through Emory School of Public Health. Scharla is a member of GA Society of Clinical Oncology (GASCO) and Cancer Patient Navigators of GA (CPNG). Scharla has been with Cancer Navigators since April 2008. She is married and has 3 boys and 2 granddaughters.
Angela James is the Service Navigator Manager at Cancer Navigators. She helps cancer patients access resources on a local, state, and national level for day-to-day living. Her education consists of a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California as well as an upcoming candidacy for her MBA with a concentration in Health Services Administration in December 2016. Angela has been with Cancer Navigators since 2009. She is married and has 2 children.
Denise has a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. She has 35 years’ experience in counseling individuals and families. She uses a variety of approaches to assist cancer patients, caregivers and loved ones in coping with the emotions and changes that cancer brings. Denise has been with Cancer Navigators since 2007. She is married to board member Dan Sweitzer and have they have 2 boys and 1 grandson.
Jonna is the Office Assistant at Cancer Navigators. She is the friendly, smiling face that greets patients upon arrival and schedules them with navigators depending on their needs. She tracks patients through our network, manages data, and helps with all office and patient needs. Jonna started working at Cancer Navigators in March of 2016. “I am so pleased and happy to have been given the great opportunity to work with a special team in order to provide to cancer patients throughout their journey”
