Cancer Navigators Receives Donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation
Cancer Navigators has received $1,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed neighbors in their time of need. Cancer Navigators will use the gift to provide liquid nutrition to cancer patients in active treatment and struggling to eat so they receive needed nutrients to continue treatments, increasing their chances of survival.
“Over 90% of Cancer Navigators’ patients are classified as low-income, and many patients must choose between food and medicine,” said Cancer Navigators’ Fundraising & Community Outreach Coordinator Sarah Husser. “We are grateful to the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation for their continued support to help cancer patients in our community overcome a top barrier to cancer care.”
Cancer Navigators is a nonprofit organization, established in 2006, that provides free resources and services to cancer patients in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama, including: social support, counseling, nutrition assistance, transportation assistance, medical supplies, wigs, hats and scarves, stress management and caregiver support. The generosity of the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation will provide patients relief, enhanced quality of life, and hope, and further Cancer Navigators’ mission of ensuring no one journeys through cancer alone.

Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves.
