Mom, Son Among Many Who Ran Virtual Race for a Reason
Cancer Navigators thanks all those who helped make our virtual Cast Off Against Cancer and 5K race a success this year. The generosity of our sponsors, the community and teams who donated their time and talents was overwhelming.
Everyone who bought a T-shirt, entered a name for our Daisy Drop, ran in the virtual race or simply watched our Cast Off video played a role in easing the journey for cancer patients.
Ginni Poole ran the 5k twice, once by herself this past Friday night during the strawberry moon, and once with her son Evan Tracy Poole. They ran in memory of Ginni’s father, Tracy Harman, who fought cancer repeatedly and finally lost the battle two years ago.
“I ran with the moon in honor of my daddy who fought cancer more than once,” Ginni said. “I ran in honor of all my family and friends who have had cancer touch their lives, and for all those who will fight in the future. I ran every hill in my neighborhood. When I ran up Turnbull Hill I thought I was going to fall over but I told myself “this is nothing.”
