Cast Off Raises More Than $56,000 for Cancer Patients
A total of 11 teams raised more than $56,000 for Cancer Navigators through this year’s Cast Off Against Cancer campaign that culminated Sunday afternoon at Barron Stadium.
“I am overwhelmed by the amounts the teams raised, and by the hundreds of people who supported the event,” said Sarah Husser, Fundraising and Community Outreach Coordinator for Cancer Navigators. “The money will directly support local cancer patients with transportation to treatment, nutrition, counseling and stress management.”
Six teams from Floyd raised more than $42,000 leading up to Sunday’s event. Five community teams raised about $11,000.
Cancer Navigators, a community-based nonprofit organization established in 2006, guides those affected by cancer toward a better understanding of diagnosis and care and connects them with needed resources in their journey – free of charge.
