Elementary Students Raise More than $1,100 for Cancer Navigators
The students at East Central Elementary in Rome raised $1,189.30 to support Cancer Navigators, one penny at a time. Children brought in coins during the month of October as part of a special fundraiser.
The effort was led by school nurse and staff member at Floyd Medical Center Paula White. Although the fundraiser was to honor all cancer patients, it specifically recognized three ladies – Alicia Black, Susan Culbreath and Odete Estes. These women each have children or grandchildren that either attend or teach at East Central.
“We are so happy and grateful for this donation in support of our cancer patients in this community,” said Cancer Navigators Community Outreach Manager Scharla Battle.
