Cancer Navigators Readying for Cast Off Against Cancer
It’s time to start planning for Cancer Navigators’ eighth annual Cast Off Against Cancer event scheduled for June 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Barron Stadium.
The registration fee is $100 per team or crew and the goal is for each to raise at least $1,000. All proceeds raised will remain in Northwest Georgia to help cancer patients receive needed resources.
Each team gets 10 event T-shirts and a team paddle to decorate.
The wooden oars given to teams that want them are symbolic of the journey cancer patients are on and the navigation assistance they get from our oncology social workers at Cancer Navigators. Many teams paint their paddles with poignant messages. Some memorialize co-workers and loved ones who have battled cancer. Others have been crafted into bird houses, guitars or river boats. They can be as simple or as ornate as teams wish.
