Need of the Month: Nutritional Supplement Drinks
Complete nutrition supplement drinks help provide calories, vitamins and minerals to patients whose appetites or ability to eat are compromised by cancer or cancer treatments. Cancer Navigators stocks these canned or bottled drinks and shakes for patients who need assistance in maintaining their energy, strength and nutrition during treatment.
Scharla Battle, Community Outreach Manager for Cancer Navigators, said she receives requests every day for these products. “Many of these patients are not able to eat solid foods because the chemotherapy or radiation treatments make them nauseated, so these products are always needed,” explained Battle. For those who have throat or neck cancer, this may be the only nutritional supplement they receive, she said.
Donations are accepted at the Cancer Navigators office Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
